THE FIRST YEAR
Building Core Skills & Values
The full-time, two-year Global MBA program blends rigorous training in traditional business skills with a focus on core values of global leadership, ethics, sustainability, and corporate and social responsibility. Students spend the first year taking required core courses with a cohort of 40-45 classmates, attending lectures, working on case studies and team projects, and participating in experiential learning opportunities. Classes in the first year take place Monday through Wednesday during the day, leaving Thursday and Friday for student organization and career-related activities.
Prior to fall classes, Global MBA students spend their very first week on campus in MBA Institute. This orientation program of workshops, team case work, speakers, and social activities introduces new students to the MBA experience, their fellow students, Business School faculty and alumni, resources at George Washington University, and life in Washington, D.C. During this time, students also brush up on quantitative skills.
Consulting Abroad Project (CAP)
Toward the end of the first year, the Consulting Abroad Project (CAP) gives students first-hand experience in doing business abroad. Each nine-week CAP is led by a faculty member who guides a student team through a real-life consulting engagement for a global firm. After spending seven weeks in D.C. doing research and shaping findings, teams travel abroad to the firms home country for two weeks to deliver final recommendations to company leaders.
Students work with the F. David Fowler Career Center throughout their first year to shape career goals and target companies of interest for summer internships and beyond. Resumes are edited and updated before the first day of classes, and students meet regularly with the Centers consultants to craft individual career management portfolios. Students also take advantage of the many opportunities to attend career fairs and participate in D.C. company tours and career treks to New York and San Francisco.
THE SECOND YEAR
Focusing on Your Professional Goals

Cutting-edge, digital courses are organized into learning episodes and are comprised of videos, video cases, podcasts, animations, and other pre-recorded content in addition to traditional reading assignments. Students progress within each learning unit at their own paces, but must complete the learning unit by assigned target dates.
Two to three times during each course, students participate in guided live classroom sessions consisting of lectures, case discussions, and/or group activities. These live sessions are offered during evenings/weekends and are announced by the instructor at the beginning of each course.
