The Adult Nurse Practitioner (ANP) Post-Masters Certificate prepares registered nurses to be nurse practitioners with adults in primary health care settings. It is designed as a non-degree course credit option for nurses with a masters degree in nursing.*
The School of Nursing offers additional post-masters certificates and graduate nursing programs to help you meet your educational goals.
*Students may be given transfer credits for previous content completed in a masters degree program.
Program Highlights
  • Graduates may apply for national certification through examination by the American Nurses Credentialing Center, and may be eligible for California advanced practice certification.
  • The program is designed for the working professional, offering evening lectures and customized clinical experiences.
  • Students may enroll part-time and take advantage of summer courses.
  • Clinical experiences include health care services for diverse cultural/ethnic groups, the poor, the underserved, and the homeless.
  • Students may receive traineeships (partial tuition reimbursement) when available through a federal grant.
  • Students receive personalized attention in a supportive Christian environment from faculty who are experienced as clinical nurse specialists or nurse practitioners in a variety of settings.
  • Financial aid is available through scholarships and loans.

The combined Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with School Nurse Services Credential (SNCSC) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) prepares registered nurses who have completed a bachelors degree to be effective practitioners of school health, and the Family Nurse Practitioner Certificate prepares them to provide primary care for people of all ages in a variety of other settings.
In addition to WASC and CCNE accreditation, the SNSC and FNP specialty is approved by the State of California Commission on Teacher Credentialing and the National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission.

The Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) with Nurse Practitioner (NP) specialties offers the following options:
  • Adult NP
  • Family NP
  • Pediatric NP
  • Psychiatric Mental Health NP
Students enrolling in one of these NP specialties should familiarize themselves with the general MSN coursework, as those course requirements will need to be completed before students may begin the NP specialty curriculum. Nurses who already have an MSN from APU or another institution may enroll in a Post-Masters Certificate program to obtain their NP specialty.
